Overview - Theme Conception
Building on
theme analysis to conceive a theme for a
website can be a difficult task. If for
example it was determined you were creating this website for
the purpose of providing information to create an
exploration of playgrounds, you want to offer your knowledge in a
website. You might
also want to consider offering your expertise (in the area you live)!
We'll say
it's to do with slides more specifically rather than all
playground equipment. You may also consider narrowing your focus to only
a specific piece of equipment if this would be beneficial but
it is
suggested to keep your theme in most cases, fairly broad
because you can 'individualize' within your theme.
We now arrive
at:
- Playgrounds -
slides
- metal - [red - your city, area or
country].
We can now
also compile some important title descriptions for our site:
WEB SITE
PURPOSE: To provide an informative resource guide on the
playgrounds in our area.
WEB SITE
THEME: Playgrounds and Equipment in our area
PRINCIPAL
KEY-PHRASE: "Playgrounds and Equipment "
KEY-PHRASES: "playground", "slide", "swing", "monkey-bars", "trails
(city, area or country)"
HOMEPAGE
TITLE: "Playgrounds and Outdoor Recreation in (your city
or area)"
By accurately
defining our site's purpose, we can clearly derive at the
focus for our site (website theme). The
individual words of our homepage title are actually our
keywords (derived from our purpose and theme) and when
grouped together in a logical form, they serve more
importantly as key-phrases.
People query
search engines by entering groups of words together to form
a key-phrase - they do not normally enter one word only on
any particular subject. The web is just too vast now and
with so many pages online, we have to capture specifically
our target audience.
The word
"play" can relate in ways to adults as well as
children. It serves no purpose to draw in people that want
something unrelated to our theme. This reinforces why we
must be honest and accurate about the theme of our site. The page
title the most
important tag that is picked up by search engines as a key
determining factor of the relevancy of the page to the
search query result.
