Celebrating 10 Great Years!!!
   by Kelly Rhoderick, Owner

Illuminating Ideas started in 1997 as Corona Designs when I was in College at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. As a Mass Communications major, I was taking classes in Marketing, art and graphics and found the art of combining the three to fulfill a cause to be fulfilling to me. I have been designing marketing material in the form of web sites, brochures and corporate identity packages ever since. Immediately out of college, I worked in the graphics department of an Agriculture Newspaper and then moved on to work for the local Rapid City, SD NBC affiliate KNBN-TV. I joined the KNBN staff as the web producer responsible for the MSNBC site as well as the design and maintenance of the company site.

Our first site was for the Holiday Inn in Spearfish, SD in 1997

As time went on, I began producing our 6:00 show and soon moved into reporting. When I left, I was doing all three and loving it, but unfortunately, it was time for us to leave the Black Hills. We relocated to Manassas, VA where I joined the staff at Prince William Association of REALTORS. At PWAR I was the Programs and Marketing Manager as well as holding the responsibility of a sizeable web site. At the close of my time with PWAR, I was offered a graphics position with AOL, but with the honor of becoming a mom to my son Aaron, we made the decision that I would pursue my lifelong dream of running my own business while being a full-time stay-at-home-mom.

I now am the proud mom of Aaron and Molly and am very successful at keeping my clients (who are mostly long distance) happy. I love both of my jobs and put my heart into both of them completely. I love being a mom and a wife, but I love the thrills and challenges of being a good designer. And after 10 great years, I can't wait to celebrate many more years in the future
